Greetings and Welcome! Thank You for visiting my web site. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have been making things or doing things with my hands for over 40 years. As I think back to my childhood, that’s what I was doing – I was crafting. I was making something else from something I started with. Transformation. That is what I do, what I enjoy, and who I am. Eight years ago, I began gourding. It was a chance meeting as I wandered into a gourd studio in Borrego Springs, California with my aunt and cousin. I immediately fell in love with gourds, and the three of us bought our first ‘raw’ gourds not an hour later. My aunt and I shared many hours together in her garage before taking any classes to find out how you work with them. We stumbled along a bit, but had such a good time doing it. My first class was at Welburn Gourd Farm in Fallbrook, California. When the class was finished, I immediately drove over to her house to share with her what I made and how I did it. I have been taking classes as well as teaching, ever since. Gourds are a very forgiving entity. This is good, because I am not a linear crafts womyn. The work evolves as I progress, one idea leaping into another and yet another. The process changes, transformation is not linear, it just happens. Gourds seem to know what they want to become. That may sound weird, but I can’t tell you how many times I haven’t known what to do to a cleaned gourd, and have left it sit in my studio or living room until I get it! (Sometimes it takes me awhile!) I follow the energy of the gourd to create. When living in Humboldt County, California, I was fortunate to belong to the Arcata Artisans Cooperative. It is a wonderful store and you must visit if you are in the area. I also began doing shows, and continued teaching. My gourd art can be found in private collections throughout California, Arizona, New Mexico, New York, Minnesota, Oregon and Colorado. My home and studio are nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Northern New Mexico, near the Pecos Wilderness and the Santa Fe National Forest. I live in the beauty and tranquility of Nature with Teekha, Kiya and OBi. The photos of jewelry and gourds are samples of my work. I welcome special orders, as none of the pieces you see here are actually for sale. Please contact me if you are interested. Anne
